What's new in Zelt - Mar 2026

This cycle covers payroll compliance updates, eSignature improvements and a number of improvements across leave, tasks and goals.

Updated this week

Payroll

Mid-Month Salary Changes Zelt now automatically pro-rates the pay when an employee's salary changes mid-month or mid-week. Each portion is paid at the right rate, with no manual adjustments needed. Read more here.

Happy New Tax Year (UK) Statutory Payments and other changes for the new legislation effective April 2026 are ready for you in the system. Your payroll is ready to go!

Zelt recently hosted a webinar on The Employment Rights Act. Catch up on the recording to make sure you are ready for the new tax year. Watch it on demand here.

Global Payroll Export Files Businesses paying employees across the Gulf States can now download ready-to-submit payment files directly from Zelt. Files are pre-populated with employee and payroll data.

Reports Filtering & Tagging Finding the right report is now much easier. You can filter by who created a report and add custom tags (e.g. "Payroll", "Headcount") to keep your report library organised as it grows.

Time & Attendance

Clearer Leave Balances The Balances page has been redesigned for clarity. You'll now see an "Accrued so far" figure showing total entitlement earned to date, and a new "Accrued less used" column showing the net earned value (useful for holiday pay calculations). Each row is now clickable to dive into individual balance calculations with ease.

Auto Scheduling Rota managers can now let Zelt propose shift assignments automatically. Once shifts are created, clicking "Auto-populate schedule" generates a draft assignment for each shift based on employee availability, approved leave, existing shift overlaps and contractual limits. Employees with unfilled contracted hours are prioritised, and historical patterns are taken into account where available. Managers review and publish the draft when ready, nothing is visible to employees until confirmed. Read more here.

Timezone Support Previously, all shift and attendance times were stored and displayed in universal timezone, regardless of an employee’s location. You can now align international teams by converting shift and attendance details into their local time. It is an optional functionality for now, you can enable timezone support by changing the setting on the attendance schedule.

To help teams fully adopt accurate timezone handling, we are also introducing a one-time prompt for admins when they open the app, encouraging them to select a company timezone. This enables more consistent schedule setup and supports future improvements for accurate timesheet migration.

Documents & eSignature

Improved Contract Editor Several quality-of-life improvements have been made to the eSignature editor: you can now insert page breaks, reselect smart fields after placing them, and signatories are validated before sending.

Legacy Template Warnings If any of your onboarding flows use older contract templates that need updating, they're now clearly flagged with a "Legacy" label in settings, with a direct link to update them before launching.

Tasks & Checklists

Delayed Task Launch Not every task should land on day one. Tasks within a checklist can now be scheduled to appear to the assignee after a set number of days, letting you build workflows that unfold at the right pace. Whether that's a gradual onboarding journey or a structured offboarding process.

Smarter Task Assignment Rules The rules for automatically assigning checklist tasks to the right people have been upgraded to support more flexible and powerful filtering.

Goals

New Progress Measure Types Goals can now track progress as a simple Yes/No or as an amount ($,£,etc) in addition to the existing percentage measure. This makes goals more flexible for different types of objectives across your teams.

Integrations

Microsoft Teams Bot Zelt is introducing a Microsoft Teams bot, bringing the same notification and action capabilities already available in Slack. You'll be able to receive alerts and approve or action requests directly from Teams.

Partner API — Employee Addresses For businesses using the Zelt Partner API, employee address data (current and historical) is now available via API, enabling deeper integration with third-party systems.
